Welcome
This site has been created by Joe's family as a way to commemorate Joe's life and to help us deal with our tragic loss.  Joe has been a part of our life for twenty one years and now he is gone.  Gone, but he will live on in many ways.  This site will attempt to celebrate the many ways Joe affected our lives and to offer ways in which we can memorialize him.

We also want to acknowledge the difficulties that Joe had with mental illness.  This was a part of his life and our life that was hard to accept.  Harder still to deal with.  Upon reflection, there were two Joes-the outward Joe that he showed to his family and friends and the inward Joe who struggled to make sense of the world and his place in it.

Joe took his own life.  In the end that was the way he sought to exercise control in a world in which he felt powerless.  We are left to wonder what were his last thoughts and what could we have done to prevent this.  His life had meaning to his friends and family.  And now his death can have meaning too as we seek constructive outlets for our grief.
